1999
Foundation of ib-ludwig.
Ulrich Ludwig started his own business in 1999 by founding the engineering firm Ludwig (ib-ludwig). The company focuses on card personalization systems and middleware for NFC and RFID.
2010
Vision ID is taking shape.

Since 2010, Vision ID Engineering GmbH has been marketing its own software. It began with the middleware tool TagDiver and the card management solution StigmaTag. Both programs continue to be actively developed and enhanced.

2011
Foundation of Common Smartcard.

Ulrich Ludwig is foundation member of Common Smartcard Solutions Association (Industrieverband für einheitliche Smartcard-Lösungen e.V.) – an association dedicated to promoting standardized data structures in RFID applications.
The association's primary goal is the interoperable use of hardware and software in RFID projects. This promotes transparency and investment security.

2015
Ulrich Ludwig, Chairman of Common Smartcard.

The Common Smartcard Solutions Association reorganized at its annual general meeting on March 20, 2015. The new chairman is Ulrich Ludwig from Vision ID Engineering.

2023
StigmaTag Server.

The StigmaTag Server application is derived from the StigmaTag desktop application. This application enables companies to control various card printers or encoding stations from a central server and to fully automate the printing and encoding process—without the need for any manual interaction.

2026
Common Smartcard celebrates 15th anniversary.

In 2026, Common Smartcard will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The association can now look back with pride on 15 years of growth and has 25 members from various industries.
